Whitby Lobster Hatchery Goes On Tour

Soon the Whitby Lobster Hatchery will install their new sophisticated lobster hatchery equipment on Whitby Fish Quay. Once installed the conservation charity on the North East coast aims to release 100,000 juvenile lobsters every year. To gain some vital experience, training and contacts some of the Whitby Lobster Hatchery team have been "on tour" visiting various established hatcheries and receiving training. In what has been a concerning past few months for the North East coast, the Whitby Lobster hatchery hopes to be part of the solution releasing juvenile lobster into impacted areas.

General Manager, Joe Redfern said "The trip has been extremely valuable for our charity to understand how hatcheries around the country operate. We have built some great connections with other hatcheries which we hope to learn from one another in the future.
