Shell & Fin: The Cook's Place Malton

Our hatchery manager Joe made the short trip over to Malton to join the Shell & Fin course hosted by The Cook's Place. Course teacher Gilly, a long-standing supporter of the hatchery, is devoted to local sustainable produce.

The was an opportunity for Joe to speak to the new chefs about Yorkshire lobster, sustainable seafood and of course the work of the Whitby Lobster Hatchery.

"We made some beautiful dishes from locally sourced seafood, Salmon lasagne was my highlight… although the lobster on toast was pretty good. The course highlights what our project is about, protecting the marine environment, protecting lobster populations and striking that balance between appreciating and understand where our food comes from whilst being guardians and stewards of our planet.
